Government stresses high-quality approach to development
The government of Foshan in South China's Guangdong province is pushing ahead with its plans for high-quality and high-speed development that is innovative, coordinated, green and open for the benefit of all. According to officials at the recently concluded 13th Communist Party of China Congress of Foshan, the city will strive to steer growth in 15 specific fields.
The city government will carry out reforms in its business environment, science and technology system and mechanism, and modern enterprise system. It will make progress in the coordinated development of urban and rural areas, industrial structure, and government-enterprise interactions, local officials said.
The city will strengthen its environmental system governance, sustainable city construction, and green and clean production, officials said, adding it will integrate into the nation's new development paradigm, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the process of building Shenzhen into a demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics, as well as Guangdong's development pattern.

Equitable access to basic public services will be ensured, and the inheritance of the local Lingnan culture and community-level social governance will be improved.
Foshan is the third-largest city in Guangdong and ranks sixth in the country in terms of total industrial output value. Its GDP exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($157.6 billion) for the first time in 2019, and its five subordinate districts were among the top 100 districts in China. These achievements serve as a source of strength for Foshan to set up ambitious goals and realize them, the Guangzhou-based Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
