Around 100 international students received awards in the “My Beautiful Encounter with China” Essay and Short-Video Competition on Dec 21.
The award ceremony was livestreamed online attracting more than 200 students from nearly 60 colleges and universities across the country.
The competition, launched in May, received over 1,000 entries from students from more than 100 universities including 600 written works and 400 videos.
They covered a comprehensive Chinese society, especially the hot topics such as fighting the epidemic and shaking off poverty, showing the perception of international students studying in China for their own career development and life value.
The event was hosted by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of the Ministry of Education and the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).
The objective was to discover the touching Chinese stories of international students and promote cultural exchanges among young people from different countries, said the organizers.
They said excellent stories will be published in a book entitled My Beautiful Encounter with China.
Short videos, which are available on the video sharing app Douyin, have received with more than 3 million page views.
This year, CSCSE also published a collection for selected works submitted in the past five years.
