Foreigners who have gained permanent resident status in China, as well as residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan currently in Beijing, are eligible for the capital's basic pension plans, according to a notice released by Beijing's social security fund management center.
People who are qualified for the plans can apply both online and offline, the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau announced on Monday.
When applying, foreigners should have their permanent resident ID card available. Applicants from Taiwan, Macao, or Hong Kong should have their respective residency permits from those places as well.
Residents from Taiwan can only apply for the benefits package in person. Qualified individuals can bring identity documents to a local government affairs center and register for the insurance.
In recent years, the Beijing municipal government has been carrying out a series of measures to help foreigners living in the city with respect to work, living and education.
For instance, foreigners who work in Beijing can get work permits in the country at designated green channels in many districts for efficiency.
