China ranks second only to the United States with 301 unicorns. The two countries account for 74 percent of all known unicorns. Fifty-one Chinese unicorns are located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and 10 are located in Guangzhou.
Hurun Report Chairman and Chief Researcher Rupert Hoogewerf said that he is delighted to release the Global Unicorn Index 2021 in Guangzhou, a city in the heart of the Greater Bay Area and one of the best cities in China for business and entrepreneurship.
In addition to long-term cooperation on the release of the Global Unicorn Index, the Hurun Report will also set up its Greater Bay Area head office and global unicorn training center in Huangpu. A Global Unicorn CEO Conference is slated to be held in Guangzhou in March to discuss innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as new technologies and business models.
