Two Chinese models, Human Horizons' HiPhi X and GAC Trumpchi Empow, stood out of 75 models and were named cars of the year by the Xuanyuan award jury on Dec 18.
The annual event attracted 75 models this year from different carmakers present in the Chinese market, of which 20 made into the finals, according to the organizers.
There were examined in terms of such aspects including noise vibration harshness, man-machine interaction, driving-assist features as well as automatic parking.
HiPhi X is an electric SUV produced by Chinese startup Human Horizons. It is the most popular Chinese electric model of those priced over 500,000 yuan.
In November, its sales reached 763 units, second only to Mercedes-Benz EQC in the segment.
Empow was launched in August 2021. GAC Trumpchi said it has received over 60,000 orders for the model.
The Xuanyuan Award was established in 2013 by the Automotive Business Review magazine and EFS Consulting to promote the development of China's automotive industry in a quality-oriented, sustainable and competitive way.
