During the first three quarters of the year, the city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – maintained solid economic growth, according to statistics released recently by the Guiyang Statistics Bureau.
From January to end-September, Guiyang's GDP was 310.24 billion yuan ($48.46 billion), a 4.8 percent year-on-year increase. The total output value of the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery sectors was 24.77 billion yuan, up 9.4 percent on the previous corresponding period.
In the nine months, the added value of Guiyang's industries above a designated size increased by 6.7 percent year-on-year, while the added value of middle and large size industrial enterprises increased by 10.6 percent.
Although Guiyang's fixed-asset investment decreased by 16.8 percent year-on-year, investment in manufacturing industries related to new industrialization increased by 1.8 percent and investment in wholesale and retail increased by 46.1 percent during the same period.
Guiyang's total retail sales goods reached 168.46 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.4 percent, the added value of services industry increased by 5.7 percent and business revenue related to the internet, software and information technology services increased by 107.2 percent.
Guiyang's per capita disposable income for urban residents was 33,330 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.1 percent, while per capita disposable income for rural residents rose 11.3 percent to 15,821 yuan.
During the first three quarters, 136,400 employed people were added to the workforce in Guiyang, 46,200 more than that in the first half of the year.
