The container throughput of Tianjin Port in Tianjin surpassed 20 million TEUs this year on Saturday, setting a new annual record for the port.
As a major port in North China, improvements in the port’s transportation capability are expected to further support the country’s logistics circulation and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei’s regional economy.
The past two decades have seen the port’s container throughput rise from 1 million in 1998 to this year’s record.
Ten new domestic and foreign trade routes have opened this yearat the port. The port is now connected to more than 800 ports in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. The growth rate of its container throughput contiunes to rank first among the world's top 10 ports.
The Tianjin Port Group has improved the efficiency of the port’s operations with intelligent technologies. It built the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei port smart logistics collaboration platform, promoted online services for paperwork and continued to upgrade the port’s e-commerce service platform.
The Tianjin Port Group aims to make Tianjin Port the world's top intelligent port. Integrating AI technology, the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, and driverless technology, it features the world’s first zero-carbon and intelligent-driven unmanned terminal.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period(2021-25), the Tianjin Port Group will construct a self-sufficient wind, solar, and hydrogen energy system, as well as supporting storage facilities, and promote their use across the entire port.
