Dec 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 102 new cases of confirmed infections (65 imported cases, 16 in Shanghai municipality, 14 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Guangdong province, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Gansu province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong, 1 in Liaoning, 1 in Zhejiang and 1 in Sichuan; 37 indigenous cases, 24 in Shaanxi including 21 in Xi’an, 2 in Yan’an and 1 in Xianyang, 10 in Zhejiang including 9 in Shaoxing and 1 in Hangzhou, 2 in Dongguan, Guangdong and 1 in Tongzhou district, Beijing), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 51 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,837 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,688 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,066 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 622 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 100,386 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,014 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,736 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,386,785 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 51,931 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new asymptomatic cases (31 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and 1 in Xi’an, Shaanxi). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 19, 511 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 463 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, 29,408 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,526 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,184 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,805 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
