Southwest China's Guizhou province has achieved significant progress in building Guiyang into a "strong provincial capital", according to a recent announcement by the province's "strong provincial capital" work team.

In the first three quarters of this year, Guiyang's added value of industries above designated size increased by 6.7 percent, the total import and export volume increased by 17.2 percent, and the total retail sales of social consumer goods increased by 12.4 percent.

Guiyang's per capita disposable income of urban and rural permanent residents increased by 11.1 percent and 14 percent, respectively; the built-up area increased by 6.8 square kilometers, and the permanent resident population in the urban area increased by about 140,000 people.

There were 137,400 newly-employed people and nearly 39,400 rural laborers employed in Guiyang.

Guiyang Metro Line 2 has also been put into operation, the Guiyang regional fast rail loop line is under trial operations, and Guizhou's first city terminal building was completed and put into operation, allowing for on-site check-in, baggage consignment and other services.

Taking advantage of the policies for "strong provincial capital", Guiyang has held an investment attraction event with agreements for 72 projects signed between Guizhou and East China's Jiangsu province onsite, with 88.05 billion yuan ($13,79 billion) in total investment intentions.

Another event attracting investment from East China's Zhejiang province was also held and 308 investment projects were agreed to, with a total contract value of 94.9 billion yuan. In addition, 247 excellent and strong enterprises, including five Fortune Global 500 enterprises, set up operations in the province.
