Xi'an Film Studio becomes national industrial heritage site

China Western Film Group – the former State-owned Xi'an Film Studio – was recently included on the list of national industrial heritage sites released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

It is the first national industrial heritage project in the city of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

Founded in 1958, Xi'an Film Studio is the earliest and largest film production complex in Northwest China.

The film group has upgraded and reconstructed its old 10-hectare production area. It has retained the old office buildings, film print workshops and sets workshops, as well as precious movie screening equipment, movie props and the archives. 

It has reportedly formed an industrial park with complete functions, a beautiful environment and a strong artistic atmosphere. It is said to be by far one of the largest and most well-preserved film studios in the country.

Meanwhile, while ensuring the complete protection of the old buildings, the film group has also improved its film and television service facilities. It has established a film and television industry production and supply chain involving film and TV production, shooting, investments, promotions and a cultural experience for visitors.

To allow locals and tourists to better get to know about the art of film and experience all its charms, the group has innovated its business model and explored the cross-border integration of film and cultural tourism – creating a unique film art living space in the country.
