FAW premium arm Hongqi's H9 sedan has won a five-star rating in the Chinese new car assessment program.
With a score of 90.7 percent, the H9 ranked top in the latest batch of vehicles in the C-NCAP test conducted earlier this week.
The model scored 95.13 percent in terms of active safety, 93.42 percent in terms of passenger protection and 73.63 percent in pedestrian protection
A large-sized model, the H9 is a Hongqi's flagship. Established in 1958, Hongqi is China's first premium brand, used in parades for national celebrations.
It sold 261,400 vehicles in the first 11 months this year, up 46.7 percent year-on-year. Hongqi's parent company, FAW, is founded in 1953 in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province. It is considered the birthplace of China's auto industry.
