Dec 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 83 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hubei province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong; 60 indigenous cases, 42 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 12 in Zhejiang province including 9 in Shaoxing and 3 in Ningbo, 4 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, 1 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 26 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 781 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Dec 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,369 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,908 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 461 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 99,454 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,628 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,190 confirmed cases (including 24 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,348,974 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,668 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new asymptomatic cases (20 imported cases; 13 indigenous cases, 12 in Zhejiang including 8 in Shaoxing, 3 in Ningbo and 1 in Hangzhou, and 1 in Chongzuo, Guangxi). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Dec 8, 484 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 406 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 8, 29,236 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,471 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,155 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,688 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
