Dec 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 74 new cases of confirmed infections (30 imported cases, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Sichuan and 1 in Guangxi; 44 indigenous cases, 34 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 8 in Zhejiang province including 5 in Ningbo, 2 in Hangzhou and 1 in Shaoxing, 1 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 1 in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Inner Mongolia), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 48 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 825 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 6.

As of 24:00 on Dec 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,346 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,896 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 450 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 99,371 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,602 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,133 confirmed cases (including 22 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,344,901 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 39,383 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases in Zhejiang including 3 in Ningbo and 2 in Hangzhou). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 7, 465 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 399 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 7, 29,231 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,471 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,153 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,683 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
