Dec 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 61 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 9 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province; 38 indigenous cases, 28 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and 1 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Inner Mongolia), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 37 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 796 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,282 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,857 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 425 confirmed cases (without cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 99,203 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,507 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,060 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,339,086 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 35,990 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 44 new asymptomatic cases (39 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases, 3 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and 2 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and 4 (indigenous cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 5, 487 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 419 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 5, 29,190 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,461 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,149 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,652 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
