Dec 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 96 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Tianjin municipality; 80 indigenous cases, 56 in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 10 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, 10 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, 2 in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, 1 in Haidian district, Beijing and 1 in Xianyang, Shaanxi province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 30 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,078 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Dec 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,227 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,811 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 416 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,993 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,385 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 972 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 1,332,534 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 32,320 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (14 imported cases; 10 indigenous cases in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 2, 449 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 384 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 2, 29,148 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,445 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,143 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,626 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
