Glutinous rice balls boiled with sweet tea are a specialty of Pingyao county in Shanxi province.

People in Pingyao use brown sugar, white sugar, sesame, osmanthus, nuts and seasoning to make fillings, then cut them into pieces, soak the fillings with water, and roll them together with glutinous rice flour into balls before boiling them.
