Ancient town in Pudong aims for high-quality development

Zhoupu town in Pudong New Area, East China's Shanghai will make concerted efforts to promote the coordinated development of urban and rural areas in the next five years as it aims to become an economic powerhouse in central Pudong.

The town will foster new growth drivers and focus on the development of high-end medical equipment and integrated circuit equipment materials. Its research and development capabilities will be further enhanced, and more support will be provided to attract regional headquarters of companies.

Efforts will be made to achieve urban-rural coordinated development and promote green and high-quality development in both the urban and rural areas. Zhoupu will also speed up the construction of a more beautiful and harmonious countryside.

The town is also planning to boost its soft power and promote its cultural products across the country. A wide range of special activities will be held to enhance its reputation as the hometown of Fu Lei, a prominent writer and translator.

The local government has increased financing related to improving people's livelihoods and welfare, and giving people a better sense of gain, happiness and security.

Min Qingfeng, the head of Zhoupu town, said that the town will give  priority to the interests and well-being of the people. Authorities will also focus on ensuring basic rights and meeting residents’ aspirations for a better life in the next five years.
