Dec 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 73 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Jilin province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Sichuan; 53 indigenous cases in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 35 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,103 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,211 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,796 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 415 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,897 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 93,355 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 906 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,330,782 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 31,646 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 15 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Dec 1, 441 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 380 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 1, 29,125 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,439 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,140 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,609 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
