Visitors couldn't ask for a better late autumn destination than Yangzhou, which has something for everyone.
1. Visual spectacle
Yangzhou is one of the best places to travel from November to December, as the ancient city bursts into color.
Tourists will be immersed in a world of deep reds and vibrant yellows as the city's maple and ginkgo leaves quickly change hue. An exhibition at Slender West Lake featuring 40,000 pots of chrysanthemums is sure to charm even the most discerning visitors.
2. Culinary feast
Yangzhou was recently designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, meaning visitors to the city will be able to whet their appetite with an endless supply of Huaiyang dishes such as Yangzhou fried rice,Dazhu gansi(finely cut chicken, ham and dried tofu in chicken broth) and Lion's head (braised pork meatballs in brown sauce).
3. Cultural epicenter
Yangzhou, with a history of more than 2,500 years, was among the first batch of national historical and cultural cities designated by the State Council.
Visitors will find themselves overwhelmed by the ancient city's rich culture, exquisite art and unique folk customs. Those looking for something more relaxing can spend the afternoon at one of the city's many 24-hour bookstores, which are never more than 15 minutes away by foot.
