On Nov 3, the Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone held a press conference for the Silk Road Science City to promote its investment environment, construction planning and urban development opportunities in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
The Silk Road Science City plays a vital role in the zone's overall position of building a highland for hardcore technological innovation with global influence and an international scientific exchange center within the Belt and Road Initiative that demonstrates the charm of China.
By the end of 2020, the Silk Road Software City had total industrial revenues of 370 billion yuan ($57.87 billion), gathered more than 2,800 companies and over 230,000 employees in the software and information service industry. It ranked fifth among national software industry bases.
Silk Road Software City is located in the Xi'an High-tech Zone. It is adjacent to the modern service industry cluster of the high-tech zone in the east, Kunming Pool in the west, Xi'an city center in the north, and the intelligent manufacturing R&D cluster of the high-tech zone in the south. The planned area is 24.4 square kilometers.
According to the plan, the software city will present a spatial pattern of "one city, three cores and four axes". "One city" refers to the Silk Road Software City. The "three cores" are the cores of industrial services, life services and industry-city integration. The "four axes" are the public activity axis, industry-city integration axis, industry service axis and life service axis.
At present, the industrial chain layout of the software city has basically taken shape and urban construction is progressing steadily. Medical institutions such as the Children's Hospital and Jiaotong Hospital have been landed. Public schools such as Xi'an High-tech Zone No.20 Elementary School and No.14 Elementary School have been put into use. A tram is expected to open to traffic next yea. The second phase of the Shaanxi Provincial Library and Xi'an High-tech Zone International Conference Center has taken shape.
In the future, the Silk Road Science City will host 500,000 people and achieve an economic scale of over 1 trillion yuan.
