Hailed as Xiongan’s “city brain”, the Xiongan Urban Computing (Super Computing Cloud) Center is among the first key projects launched in Rongdong district and is designed to build a city computing system that integrates edge computing, cloud computing, and super computing, and to offer computing and storage services to the digital twin city’s big data, blockchain, AI, VR, and AR sectors.
After over four years of strenuous work, significant progress has been seen in key project construction. By the end of October, Xiongan had implemented 177 key projects involving more than 600 billion yuan ($93.6 billion) in investment.
Upholding the sustainable development concept and adhering to it with every major move, the new area initiated a special campaign calling for efforts to build more city forests. By the end of October, Xiongan’s forest coverage rate had risen to 32 percent, with 28,553.33 hectares of forest created.
Water replenishment and purification work at Baiyangdian Lake – the biggest freshwater wetland ecosystem in the North China Plain – is seeing clear results, with the regional water quality ranked as Class IV, a record high over the past 10 years.
In an effort to relieve Beijing of functions nonessential to its role as the capital, Xiongan currently offers green channels for Beijing-based enterprises willing to resettle in the new area, and the proportion of Beijing investors in Xiongan has exceeded 80 percent of the city’s total. By the end of the third quarter this year, 4,280 enterprises had registered in Xiongan, with half of them committed to scientific research and technological services.
