The Ministry of Commerce announced China’s top 30 national-level economic and technological development zones (ETDZs) for the year of 2020 in terms of their overall development levels, based on 53 indexes in five categories. The GDP of the top 30 national ETDZs reached 3.8 trillion yuan ($0.6 trillion) in 2019, up 7.4 percent year on year. Together they accounted for 36.4 percent of the economic growth of all of China’s 218 ETDZs.
Among of the top 30, East China's Jiangsu province has eight. Guangdong, Tianjin, Shandong, Zhejiang, Anhui, Liaoning provinces and Shanghai each have two, and Hubei, Shanxi, Hunan, Sichuan, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Henan provinces and Beijing each have one.
