Shanxi University's two disciplines of plant and animal science, and agricultural science were included in the top 1 percent on the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) list.
This is according to statistics published by data analysis and service provider Clarivate Analytics on Nov 12.
ESI is a basic analysis and evaluation tool to measure scientific research performance and track scientific development trends with more than 10 million records from more than 12,600 academic journals around the world in its database.
It has become one of the most important indicators commonly used to evaluate the international academic quality and influence of universities, academic institutions, countries and regions worldwide.
Shanxi University has so far had eight disciplines, including chemistry, engineering, materials, and computer science, included in the top 1 percent on the ESI list, which is a landmark achievement in the development of the university's disciplines.
