Chinese electric car startup Nezha unveiled an all-new platform called Shanhai on Friday at the ongoing Guangzhou auto show.
It accommodates different kinds of vehicles from sedans to SUVs, with the wheelbase ranging from 2,750 mm to 3,100 mm.
Nezha said the platform can cut R&D time by 8 months and slash costs by 30 percent to 40 percent as around 80 percent of components can be shared.
The first model based on the Shanhai architecture, a B-class sedan, is presented at the auto show as well.
Among other things, it features three lidars, five millimeter-wave radar sensors, 12 ultra-sonic radar sensors and 13 cameras as well as other sensors.
It is capable of Level 4 autonomous driving in certain circumstances such as parking, said the startup.
Nezha now has three models available in the market: Neta V, Neta V Pro and Neta U Pro. It plans to launch at least one model a year.
Since deliveries started in November 2018, its total cumulative sales have exceeded 70,000 units.
