Yantai in Shandong province was ranked 34th in the comprehensive economic competitiveness rankings among 291 cities in China, according to the 19th edition of the China Urban Competitiveness Report released on Nov 2.
The report was jointly issued by the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, as well as China Social Science Press.
According to the report, comprehensive economic competitiveness includes the comprehensive economic increment and efficiency of a city. It is the cornerstone of urban development, measuring the ability of a city’s economic development. It is not only the decisive force of current and short-term economic performance, but also the key foundation for future and long-term development.
The report also showed that in addition to Yantai, an additional nine cities in the province were ranked among the top 100 in the comprehensive economic competitiveness rankings. They were Qingdao, Jinan, Dongying, Weihai, Zibo, Weifang, Jining, Rizhao, and Dezhou, which ranked 20th, 30th, 47th, 49th, 55th, 65th, 69th, 74th, and 99th respectively.
