Nov 18: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 35 new cases of confirmed infections (29 imported cases, 8 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong, 2 in Sichuan and 1 in Guangxi; 6 indigenous cases, 5 in Dalian, Liaoning province and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Liaoning), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 59 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,927 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Nov 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,948 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,558 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 390 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Nov 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,403 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 92,534 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,233 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,300,285 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 39,421 were still under medical observation.

On Nov 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 26 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 7 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Nov 17, 494 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 347 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Nov 17, 28,971 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,391 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,099 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,503 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
