Nov 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 31 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 14 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 8 indigenous cases in Dalian, Liaoning province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 69 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,613 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,919 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,541 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 378 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Nov 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 98,368 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 92,475 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,257 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,299,515 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,581 were still under medical observation.

On Nov 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (14 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Zhengzhou, Henan province). 23 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 21 imported cases) and 2 (indigenous cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 500 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 352 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Nov 16, 28,963 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,388 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,099 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (76 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,498 in Taiwan (848 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
