The city of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on Oct 20 received a plaque from the China Association for Science and Technology, marking the city's official start as a hub city for the development of the Innovation China program.
Innovation China is a national program and service brand that was established by the Beijing-based association – an umbrella body of scientists and engineers – that helps integrate technology and the economy. Guiyang was selected in the second group of the program's hub cities in May.
In its new role, Guiyang will utilize the Innovation China program to attract domestic and international technological innovation resources, establish technology think tanks, hold top-level academic exchanges, as well as undertake technology and economy cooperation online and onsite.
It is felt that the further attraction of innovation resources will contribute to Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area's technological innovation and industrial development.
Centered on its big data industry, plans are for Guiyang to establish a foundation, build several innovation and entrepreneurship bases – and hold various activities to integrate technology, talent, industry and finance – making Guiyang and Guian a big data demonstration area with national influence.
