The 14th Five-Year Plan for Guangzhou-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Park has recently been released to build it into an engine for the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
According to the plan, the area will foster intelligent equipment and new-generation information technology as two world-class industrial clusters. The advantages of traditional industries like food, beverage and daily-use chemicals will be reinforced while emerging industries such as the digital economy and the modern service sector will thrive.
The number of high-tech enterprises will grow significantly by 2025 with an increased R&D expenditure, and that of new-type R&D institutions will exceed five. The output value of high-tech products will account for more than 50 percent of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size.
The area will be accessible to major Greater Bay Area cities within one hour and downtown Guangzhou in half an hour. Construction of key projects like Guangzhou Metro Line 6's south extension line, Guangzhou Metro Line 19 and Huangpu Tram Line 2 will be pushed forward.
In addition, a comprehensive international hospital, fitness center, smart manufacturing museum and conference center will be built in Guangzhou-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Park. Local schools and business circles will also be improved.
