The 2021 World Industrial Internet Conference will be held in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province from Oct 26-27, the organizing committee recently announced.
In 2015, Qingdao took the lead in China in the development of the industrial internet, and the city has launched measures to support enterprises with their digital and intelligent transformation, as well as building automated production lines, digital workshops and intelligent factories.
The city held the first World Industrial Internet Conference in 2015, which gathered domestic and foreign industry giants and experts to share insights into the development of the industrial internet.
Over the past six years, the World Industrial Internet Conference has invited many academicians and experts from well-known think tanks, universities and institutes from around the world to provide new ideas to traditional manufacturing enterprises troubled by transformation and upgrading.
Qingdao is now home to 1,833 industrial internet ecological enterprises, 41 intelligent (interconnected) factories, 111 digital workshops and 299 automatic production lines.
Official statistics show that the city's integration index of digitalization and industrialization has reached 93.4, while the digitization rate of production equipment has reached 53.4 percent. The popularization rate of digital R&D design tools currently stands at 87.4 percent, and the digitization rate of key processes is at 54.6 percent.
Qingdao has also created a platform development pattern of "one giant and several professional platforms".
COSMOPlat, an industrial internet platform developed by household appliance manufacturer Haier, is the backbone of Qingdao's efforts to build a global industrial internet hub.
There are presently 96 vertical platforms in specific industries and fields that are under construction. Among them, 26 platforms such as an intelligent charging industrial Internet cloud platform and a rubber tire industrial Internet platform have been put into operation in Qingdao.
