Xiamen in Fujian province recently issued a notice on the development of the Xiamen area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
According to the notice, the Xiamen area will build an open platform for international cooperation that serves the establishment of the innovation base for industrial revolution partnership among BRICS countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
The Xiamen area will also explore a mechanism for BRICS countries' customs to carry out cooperation and to promote smart customs supervision.
In addition, mutual recognition and cooperation between the authorized operators among the BRICS countries will be enhanced to further facilitate trade between the BRICS countries.
Relying on the "single window" system that offers one-stop service in international trade, the Xiamen area will explore and boost cooperation with electronic ports in BRICS countries, as well as pilot safe and orderly data flow in BRICS countries.
Following the release of the notice, the Xiamen area aims to build itself into a demonstration area focusing on reform and opening-up with Chinese characteristics. It also strives to be an important platform in cooperation with BRICS countries, as well as a pilot area that promotes high-quality development by 2035.
