Oct 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 8 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Yunnan province, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Zhejiang and 1 in Guangdong; 26 indigenous cases, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 3 in Hohhot, 2 in Xiliin Gol League and 2 in Alshaa League, 6 in Gansu province including 5 in Lanzhou and 1 in Zhangye, 6 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region including 3 in Yinchuan and 3 in Wuzhong, 4 in Changping district, Beijing, 1 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, 1 in Zhuzhou, Hunan province and 1 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 28 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 522 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 6.

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,503 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,097 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 406 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,758 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 91,558 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 564 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,227,655 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,789 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (15 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases, 2 in Changsha, Hunan and 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 9 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 380 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 345 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 28,760 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,319 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,016 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (66 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,364 in Taiwan (846 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
