Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province recently made the list of "The Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners" by the Foreign Talent Research Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, local media outlets reported.
This is the 10th consecutive year the city has won the honorary title.
Revolving around the theme "Openness and Talent Introduction", this year's award took into account 54 factors such as work convenience, living convenience, social environment, peer review, and dependence on foreign trade.
By assembling the best minds and drawing on their expertise, Suzhou has constantly strengthened the innovation of its foreign talent introduction mechanism, optimized its management and services, and created a favorable environment for startups and innovative projects launched by foreign talent.
There are currently about 12,000 foreign talents working in Suzhou, about 46 percent of the provincial total. Of these individuals, 4,693 are high-end foreign talents, accounting for 55 percent of the total number in the province. The city now has 11 workstations for foreign academicians and 305 foreign talent workshops at the provincial or city level.
