Oct 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Henan; 28 indigenous cases, 11 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 10 in Alshaa League and 1 in Xiliin Gol League, 9 in Gansu province including 5 in Lanzhou, 3 in Zhangye and 1 in Jiayuguan, 3 in Xi’an, Shaanxi, 2 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region including 1 in Wuzhong and 1 in Yinchuan, 1 in Fengtai district, Beijing municipality, 1 in Zunyi, Guizhou province and 1 in Haidong, Qinghai province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,414 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Oct 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,474 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,055 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 419 confirmed cases (without cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Oct 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,665 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 91,511 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 518 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,222,061 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 24,473 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 26 new asymptomatic cases (19 imported cases; 7 indigenous cases, 3 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, 2 in Baoding, Hebei province and 2 in Zunyi, Guizhou). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Oct 21, 384 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 357 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 21, 28,737 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,311 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,006 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (66 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,349 in Taiwan (846 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
