A solar photovoltaic power station has been connected to the grid and started generating power on Wednesday at a town of Ejin Horo Banner in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Covering 2,800 hectares at an area of coal mining subsidence in Wulanmulun town, the 500-megawatt project is expected to generate 900 million kWh every year, according to data from the banner government.
With an investment of 2.4 billion yuan ($371.5 million), the power station is a major demonstration project of the local government to develop clean and low-carbon energy industry, construct green mines and restore ecological environment in coal mining subsidence areas, the local government said.
