Oct 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 30 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Henan, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Shaanxi; 17 indigenous cases, 8 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region - 5 in Alshaa League and 3 in Xiliin Gol League - 4 in Lanzhou, Gansu province, 1 in Fengtai, Beijing municipality, 1 in Zunyi, Guizhou province, 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, 1 in Xi’an, Shaanxi and 1 in Wuzhong, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Shaanxi), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 39 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,994 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,451 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 9,014 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 437 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,601 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 91,460 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 505 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,216,152 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 21,291 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases, 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and 2 in Lanzhou, Gansu). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 17 imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 356 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 339 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 19, 28,721 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,301 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,998 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (66 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,343 in Taiwan (846 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
