Oct 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Gansu province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Hunan, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Gansu; 9 indigenous cases, 5 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, 2 in Xiliin Gol League, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Changsha, Hunan and 1 in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 27 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 752 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,438 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,981 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 457 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,571 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 91,421 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 514 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,213,842 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 20,976 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (17 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan and 1 in Xi'an, Shaanxi). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 18 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 356 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 341 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 28,713 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,299 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,994 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (66 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,337 in Taiwan (846 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
