According to the Guiyang big data bureau, Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province are accelerating the construction of three industrial clusters, each worth more than 100-billion-yuan ($15.44 billion).
The industrial clusters include a data center cluster, electronic information manufacturing cluster, and software and information technology service cluster, and they are expected to boost Guiyang and Guian's digital economy.
Eight large-scale data centers have already been built in Guiyang and Guian, and are currently being expanded. By May, Guiyang and Guian had invested 18.36 billion yuan in data center construction, 2.19 billion yuan of which was invested this year.
Three more large-scale data centers of the People's Bank of China, JD, and China Southern Power Grid are scheduled to start construction this year.
Led by 67 electronic information manufacturing enterprises with annual revenue of more than 20 million yuan, Guiyang and Guian are focusing on developing a data center equipment manufacturing industry, intelligent terminal industry, and photoelectricity industry.
From January to May of this year, the added value of Guiyang's electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 65.8 percent year-on-year, and total output is expected to reach 39.4 billion yuan by the end of the year.
During the first half of this year, the total business income of Guiyang and Guian's software and information technology service industry was 19.93 billion yuan, and is expected to reach 38 billion yuan by the end of the year.
Guiyang and Guian are currently home to 268 enterprises with software and information technology service incomes of more than 5 million yuan.
Guiyang and Guian also take major events as opportunities to carry out targeted investment attraction. Since the beginning of this year, the two cities have signed 49 big data projects with a total investment of 4.43 billion yuan and introduced 49 digital economy enterprises.
