Shanxi University holds forum on functional linguistics

The 4th High-end Forum on the Integration, Innovation and Development of Functional Linguistics hosted by School of Foreign Languages at Shanxi University was held on Sept 25 and 26.

The forum aimed to further strengthen the mutual learning and integration of theories on functional linguistics and other subjects, and to promote the innovative development of functional linguistics research.

The forum was divided into keynote speeches delivered by experts and discussions among young scholars.

Featuring a remote webcast and video-conference, the forum was attended by over 140 experts, scholars, and postgraduates from 79 colleges, universities, and scientific research institutions across China, with 28,000 netizens from 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions viewing the event.

At the forum, 18 domestic linguistics experts gave keynote speeches, reflecting the current interdisciplinary thinking of research content and perspectives of functional linguistics, and 68 young scholars discussed in-depth topics such as "the innovation and path of functional linguistics theory", " mutual learning and integration between functional linguistics and other subjects", and "localization research on theories of functional language".

The event promoted academic dialogue and exchange between Shanxi University's foreign language disciplines and top domestic linguists, broadened the academic horizons of teachers and students at the university, and demonstrated the academic quality of the School of Foreign Languages in the field of linguistics.
