Oct 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Hunan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 37 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 455 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,254 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,741 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 513 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,374 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,972 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 766 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,205,442 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 25,625 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 9 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 371 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 355 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 28,613 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,253 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,945 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,283 in Taiwan (845 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
