Oct 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 13 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Hubei province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 53 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,916 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Oct 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,215 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,688 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 527 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,335 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,889 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 810 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,204,155 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 25,637 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (9 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in the Fourth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps). 6 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 6, 357 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 341 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 6, 28,585 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,243 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,935 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 75 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,267 in Taiwan (844 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
