Oct 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 26 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Heilongjiang province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 27 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,710 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Oct 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,166 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,644 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 522 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Oct 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,284 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,792 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 856 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,202,843 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 27,526 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 4, 348 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 335 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 4, 28,559 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,230 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,926 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 74 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,255 in Taiwan (844 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
