Oct 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new cases of confirmed infections (26 imported cases, 7 in Yunnan province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Hunan, 1 in Zhejiang and 1 in Guangdong; 1 indigenous case in Harbin, Heilongjiang), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 38 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 775 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,140 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,635 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 505 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,258 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,765 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 857 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,201,863 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,257 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (13 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 343 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 330 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 28,547 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,226 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,920 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 71 in Macao (64 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,250 in Taiwan (843 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
