Oct 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 34 new cases of confirmed infections (24 imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong and 1 in Hunan; 10 indigenous cases in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 50 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 325 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,049 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,558 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 491 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,162 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,634 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 892 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,199,462 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,376 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 30, 359 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 348 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 30, 28,511 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,217 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,905 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 71 in Macao (63 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,223 in Taiwan (842 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
