The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) formally sent a letter to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) on Sept 24 to apply for pre-accession. The "pre-accession" - a step to become a PIC/S participating authority - aims to help applicants better understand the relevant requirements of the PIC/S before submitting a formal application.
For many years, China's drug regulatory authority has actively taken part in PIC/S related activities, and referred to and learned from relevant good practices on quality. After the establishment of the NMPA, it has further accelerated internationalization of regulatory system, promoted participation in international regulatory harmonization, and pushed forward regulatory modernization through internationalization of regulatory system.
