Sept 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 8 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Guangdong province; 11 indigenous cases, 8 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 3 in Xiamen, Fujian), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 58 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 644 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 4.

As of 24:00 on Sept 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 9,009 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,500 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 509 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 96,106 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,521 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 949 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,196,993 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 26,905 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (17 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Heilongjiang - 1 in Harbin and 1 in Suihua). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 28, 342 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 330 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 28, 28,485 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,209 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,901 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 71 in Macao (63 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,205 in Taiwan (842 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
