Ouyang Ziyuan, a senior adviser to China's lunar program, was invited to be the ambassador for the city's starry sky tourism promotion.

On March 8, 1976, one of the world's biggest meteor showers descended on Jilin, with the biggest chunk weighing 1,770 kilograms.

Ziyuan looks forward to more people coming to Jilin to appreciate the meteorite culture and explore the beauty of the space.

The new experiences are part of the city's efforts to tap into local meteorite resources and develop star culture and tourism, says Zhao Yongbo, the city's publicity department.

Jilin city is surrounded by mountains and has abundant water resources. Travelers can enjoy pristine lakes, mountains and forests in the city.

China CYTS Tours Holding will work with Jilin to develop the local starry sky tourism into an influential national brand, says Wang Silian, chair of the company.
