Haval Big Dog celebrates 1st anniversary, unveils X Dog model

Great Wall Motors celebrated the first anniversary of its crossover Haval Big Dog on Saturday, which attracted over 16 million viewers online.

The model, priced from 119,900 yuan to 162,900 yuan, is built based on Great Wall Motors' Lemon platform.

The name, Big Dog, was chosen by the Chinese public in a poll written out by the carmaker's Haval marque.

The body colors and trim levels are also named after dog breeds, starting from the entry 'Husky' trim level up to the top 'Belgian Shepherd' trim.

Haval said it will get more customers involved in its future operations. Among others, they will have a say in its Big Dog Plus program.

The marque also showed its X Dog model. The compact vehicle is Haval's first plug-in hybrid SUV.

The model features the 1.5-liter engine as well as the 2.0-liter engine and is scheduled to hit the market in 2022.
