Sept 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 54 new cases of confirmed infections (24 imported cases, 13 in Yunnan province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province; 30 indigenous cases, 15 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 15 in Fujian - 11 in Xiamen and 4 in Putian), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 35 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 481 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,907 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,395 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 512 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,948 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,303 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,009 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,184,228 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 17,685 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 348 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 340 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 28,400 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,169 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,887 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,168 in Taiwan (841 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
