Sept 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 43 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 5 in Yunnan province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Hubei province, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Liaoning province; 28 indigenous cases, 20 in Fujian province - 17 in Xiamen and 3 in Putian - and 8 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 37 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 499 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,883 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,372 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 511 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,894 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,268 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 990 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,183,674 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 17,612 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 348 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 340 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 28,389 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,167 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,883 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,159 in Taiwan (841 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
